Lava tube cave - Vatnshellir - Beyoncé, Bacteria and a troll!

Góðan daginn,

the Lava cave Vatnshellir is located in the national park, which we were driving through.

Christoph's biggest wish for the national park was the visit in a lava tube. So we stopped by randomly at one of the caves. I guess we were pretty lucky by stopping at this one. Our tour guide was very friendly and gave us a lot of information.

We entered next to this hole the cave using a door and some stairs. The icelandic national park closed the cave, because they were too afraid of burglars. There are some thermo-scientific specialities inside that are really rare!
The cave is located at the foot of this glacier. Which is so high, that he dips into the mountains as if someone threw him into some water.
In the cave there was no light! Nothing but the light from our pocket lamps. We saw some stalagmites which came from the ground...
And some small stalactites from the ceiling. One looked like a ring and the tour guide told us, that some troll "put his ring on it" like Beyoncé wants it in the single ladies.
The only skeleton down there was from a natives fox. They came over using some iceberg as a vehicle.
Here are the two specialities. These two are called the twins and the lave solidified in the moment when some gas was released from the lava river. There are just three of these in the western hemisphere and two of them are next to each other.
These are no diamonds in the end, these are bacteria, shimmering and glowing in the light of a pocket lamp. It reminded me of Edward, a little bit kkkk
After a 20 min walk we had to take some, kinda high, stairsand in the different moving flash lights it was an incredible view. We were at that moment 35 m under the ground and this room actually was not open for 10.000 years before the entrance collapsed. At some point everyone had to turn off their lights and just listen to the raindrops who arrived after 3 weeks of sickening through the ground.
It was an ghosty atmosphere. On our way back we also found a troll in the stones. He was shouting at us holding his hands next to his mouth.

These two rocks at the beach was a volcano eruption under the water, so cool the lava and these two fountains remained.

At the beach there were just algae covered stones... boring :-)
