Celebrating goodbye is always (party) hard

Bonjour,

during my last week I had to say goodbye to the city, the laboratory, my coworkers, the apartment and of course to Nicolas and Daejung.

So I had a marathon of goodbyes. First was dinner with Nicolas, we had Poutine and fish'n'chips.  In a small restaurant in the village.

We were there close to their closing, so it looked a little sad, but still it was recommendable.

Because we did not know, if we could see each other again we said goodbye that night. On friday we knew better and started another goodbye session. For drinks and party.
They had a little voguing contest and the music should be electronic, but it was not my kind of sound.

We went to the MPU, a gay party, which is held once a month. I have to admit, that pre-drinks were 1000x better than the party itself, but I hadn't experienced clubbing in Montréal, so I went with it. We had to take an Uber to the place, which was located in the McGill area and of course back also, because subway stops around 1 am.

Earlier this week Daejung and partly me prepared the best thing I had during the time in Mtl.

General Tao Gimbab! But that was another story.

The next day, saturday I went with Daejung to have drinks. We ended up in a karaoke bar and from there we went to SKY club.

And I had to buy this d'lishes thingy. Disgusting as f**k
The club was located in this house and they had the worst best DJ ever. All my favorite pop hits in an unbelievable bad electronic mix. Same beat was connected songs for hours. I loved it so much!
We danced till the club closed and went for my very last poutine. Then, on sunday I had to pack my stuff and leave for the airport.
Bye Bye apartment and bye bye Starbucks.

That were six weeks in Canada. I truly enjoyed it, even if I had to work daily. I got good results in the lab, got great friends and had a bunch of new experiences. Thanks to everyone, who was involved in this time!

Last day - Time to wrap up - Bioshpere, China-Town, Downtown

 Bonjour,

on my last day Daejung and me had to to a lot of unfinished business. We had to go to China town for Dim-Sum brunch, visit the old Expo Biosphere and last minute shopping in Downtown. By the way, it was my first day off here in Canada. I had worked now 5.5 weeks straight.
On our way to China town, which is just about 3 streets big we just passed by a very intense screening of Scandal :-)

Night Run - Montreal Downtown

Bonjour,

my last week in Montréal has been a 24/7 week. I had to finish all my experiments. To finalize everything I had to work a lot of over hours. On Tuesday I stayed with a quick gym break from 6:30 am to 10 pm at the laboratory. I love doing qPCR at night! my new favorite thing!

For my way home I was thinking, that I was not running in the city ever.... mostly because of the snow during the last few weeks. So I just called Daejung for a night run from Shriners to the village. We had to cross the whole city. Suburb styled housings just changed to downtown skyscrapers and then from financial district to our old apartment area.

Jardin botanique de Montréal - Butterflies go wild

Bonjour,

on sunday I had the plan to go to the gym and then to work all day long. But the weather was that great that Daejung and me decided to skip studying and work and instead to go to the botanic garden.  ( I went in the evening for 5 hours instead.) Still it was the best decision last week.
Montréal weather was close to spring and the sun was tickling on our faces.
The big thing right now in the botanic garden is one part, where they have hundreds of butterflies, which are free to fly around the house. People can enter and be with these little guys for as long as they want to.

Ottawa - Capital City

Bonjour,

this week Daeyoung and me rent a car and went on a road trip to the capital! Canadas capital, Ottawa is located West of Montreal. Last week we went to Quebec city, which is located East of Montreal. Highlight was the Parliament building!

Burn baby!
