NYC - First impression

Hello everyone!

It is american week! We took a flight straight from Ddorf airport to JFK! Suddenly me, John and my parents are in the middle of NYC and for all of us it is the first time to be in the States.

Cilaos CANYONING - way too high!

Bonjour,

we discovered Cilaos a second time to go for Canyoning again. Axel told us, that what we did was Baby Canyoning the other day, so we had to do Canyoning the grown up way.

I guess I am not a grown up in the case of canyoning.


NOT adult enough to do this without fear :-(

Mafat - One of the three Cirques here in La Réunoin 2 days hiking straight!

the last two days have been packed with hiking. 2 days without Wifi, service, TV or anything else. We drove to Col de Bouf to park our car in the mountains.

We started hiking at 10 am and arrived at our Gite "Snack Bar Marla" at 6 pm, right before sundown.

The weather gods blessed us with the perfect weather for the long 8 h hike! It was hot and sunny! We even saw blue skies, which is not that usual in the mountain!

Piton de la Fournaise - Rainy trip to the moon and back!

we visited the Piton de la Fournaise today. It is a quiet active vulcano, which is actually not active this year :-(

Canyoning - Jungle Explorer!

Canyoning won the race for the first place of Reunion Adventures until now!

Mountainbiking was a blast, but Canyoning was incredible. I had to overcome my fear of heights several times. Jumping from bassin to bassin, roping 20 m downwards, zip lining into waterfalls with 25 m under me....

Mountain-biking - 40 km offroad, downhill

today Claudio and me did something I would have never expected to do. We did mountain-biking!

We had to get up in the very early morning to get on top of the mountain next to St. Gilles.
Arriving on top it was raining, foggy and actually kinda cold. I was sure, that we will get a cold during the ride.

Cilaos - The city in the Caldera

CILAOS TIME!!!!!! Hiking in the skies.

But before, we had breakfast in a very cute patisserie in St. Gilles, called Loulou. Of course coffee and baguette...

Claudio and I drove to the center of the island today. Our route took us east next to the coast, where we had to stop several times to take pictures of course.

Here we start to drive north to the center of the island.

 In the middle of the island, in a very high caldera we found the city of Cilaos. We had to drive about 1 h up in the mountains, which was kinda strange. Sometimes there was just space for one car on the street and you had to honk before going around the next serpentine. I had the feeling of playing a computer game, because it was just left-right-left-right-left-right-honk-honk

At some point I got a little annoyed by that, but we made it to Cilaos safe. Up there we planned to do two hikes and we fulfilled our plan completely. So in the following you will see the pictures.

First some impressions of the city:

Banana Cake, which we had as a reward for our hiking :-)

The first hike was about 3 hours, with a yoga and MMA break. The trail was termed Bras Rouge.

 Here we asked two older men to take a picture of us, of course including the breathtaking panorama, but they just took a picture of us and said... BEAUTIFUL! We accepted the compliment and didn't ask for another shot haha

 For Elisa, there is another lesson of undangerous yoga :-)

 I was trying to throw another rock on top.

That was the first round of touring.

The second trip was just around 1 h and took us a little higher to get a nice view of the city, which is surrounded by the walls of the crater.
