Reykjavik - The city that never sleeps, well during the summer!

Góðan daginn,

our last four days we stayed at Reykjavik to explore the most populated region on iceland. Besides the main attractions we visited a lot of small, cute, quiet places and just beautiful sights.

At our first day we stayed for some time at Björks favorite cafe to have some coffee. Actually the coffee was one of the best in Iceland, so I can understand why she likes this so much.

The next station was the statue of  Ingólfur Arnarson, which was the first settler in Iceland. Of course he looks like a Viking and his ship either. Actually i thought, that the statue is bigger. In a magazine I saw a photoshopped picture where he was shown as big as the statue of liberty. I was seriously excited to see the statue, but when I saw it I was a little disappointed.

Like the "Bremer Stadtmusikanten"... super tiny.
Next cool stop was the opera house "Harpa", which's fassade is made of 3 dimensional combs. It's next to the harbor and it is capable to seat 1.600 people, which is reasonable for the icelandic total population of approximately 320.000 people.
One of my most favorite places is the Viking ship statue termed Sólfar (Sun Voyager) at the coast of Reykjavik.

Here we had icelandic traditional food. Some salmon bread and lamb soup. Super yummy!
I guess the most famous attraction is the church (Hallgrímskirkja) in Reykjavik.  In front of the church there is a memorial for Leif Eriksson an icelandic researcher.
In between we had some fish and chips!
And more Church pictures!

It was a great trip with my brother! I will miss the time and the country! You really feel free, not just because of all the space there, but also because of the icenlandic spirit!
